MY JOURNEY

A journey of risk, reinvention, and relentless problem-solving — spanning continents and industries.

Humble Beginnings in Harare

Born and raised in the capital of Zimbabwe, my early years were shaped by the vibrancy, resilience, and culture of Harare. It’s where I learned the importance of hard work, family, and grit - foundations that would guide me through the rest of my journey.

I then moved to Cape Town and joined the family business, Fleming & Co., where I was first exposed to the discipline and responsibility that comes with running a company. It was here that my entrepreneurial instincts started to take shape.

Big Leaps in London

Chasing opportunity, I moved to London - working with TNT, where I began to understand the inner workings of global logistics. This chapter led to a major milestone: becoming the youngest General Manager of TNT back in South Africa - a role that taught me how to lead under pressure and grow in dynamic environments.

DHL & A Global Career Begins

I joined DHL, which brought me to the UAE in 1990. Through years of consistent results, I was eventually promoted to a Global Director position, relocating to Brussels. This chapter gave me a deep understanding of international business operations, strategic growth, and people leadership.

Launching MACAir

In 1997, I took the leap into entrepreneurship, launching MACAir - a company focused on marine air-conditioning systems. It was hands-on, technical work that honed my ability to solve complex challenges in high-stakes environments. After growing the business successfully, I exited in 2004.

Founding Enviroserve

That same year, I launched Enviroserve, starting with a niche but critical mission: recovering and reclaiming refrigerant gases that were being vented into the atmosphere. This pivoted into a much larger opportunity - tackling electronic and electrical waste recycling, something never done in the Middle East region before.

Pioneering a Regional First

We worked closely with UAE governing bodies and stakeholders to develop the region’s first e-waste recycling infrastructure. That vision came to life in 2018, when we launched the largest electronic and electrical waste recycling facility in the Middle East and Africa - that went on to win multiple awards and was officially recognised as a National Asset of the UAE.

A Unique Acquisition

In 2024, Enviroserve’s mission and long-term impact received exceptional recognition when the company was acquired by both Abu Dhabi and Dubai’s sovereign wealth funds - a rare and significant endorsement of the value built over two decades. This marked only the third acquisition of its kind in the UAE’s history.

The Next Chapter

As one incredible chapter closes, another begins.

Leaving Enviroserve after 21 years was never going to be easy but growth means knowing when it’s time to pass the torch and look ahead. I’m beyond proud of what we achieved: creating an Industry, building a National Asset for an entire country, shaping that industry, and proving that with vision, grit, and the right people by your side, anything is possible.

So, what’s next?

INNOVATION. SIMPLY DELIVERED.

New ideas, fresh challenges, and opportunities that meet both people's needs and the planet's demands are coming together with everything I've learned and everything I still aim to create.

Sustainability, innovation, impact - these will always be part of my DNA.

If the last two decades have taught me anything, it's the journey is everything. And this next ride? It’s going to be another wild one.
